The owner of Lakewood has decided not to renew the lease on the swimming pool due to several issues, primarily the pool's deteriorating condition and safety concerns. Five months ago, the county nearly shut down the pool, allowing it to remain open only due to the efforts of the maintenance team.
The pool suffers from extensive leaks, requiring around 5,000 gallons of water to be added weekly. Despite multiple repair attempts, the leaks have become unmanageable. Additionally, the aging pool pumps and water delivery system are at risk of breaking down, and there are no funds for necessary repairs. The pool has remained open for three years due to member and community support.
The pool's last day of operation will be Thursday, October 31st.
